Building Suitability in Jakarta to Be Audited

Starting in January 2026, the Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Land Affairs (DCKTRP) Agency will conduct Building Suitability Audits. This is an effort to ensure public safety, security, and comfort in the use of buildings.

Head of Jakarta CKTRP Agency, Vera Revina Sari said this step is a preventive measure and mitigation of the risk of fire and structural failure, as well as to ensure that each building meets applicable technical standards.

"Public safety is our top priority . Through this building suitability audit, we want to ensure that all buildings in Jakarta, both government and private, are fully functional and meet safety standards, particularly regarding the risks of fire and structural failure," she said, Monday (12/29).

She added that audits will be conducted on all public buildings, whether privately or commercially managed or those that are local government assets.

The audit will take samples from a number of five-story buildings as well as several buildings with a height of more than eight stories.

The agency will distribute building suitability checklists to building owners or managers.

This checklist, according to Eva, can be used to conduct a self-assessment before a field audit is carried out.

"This is expected to help building owners understand the condition of their buildings early on and speed up the audit process," she added.

During the audit implementation, the CKTRP Agency will involve related agencies namely Fire Handling and Rescue, Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy.

Next are One-Stop Investment and Integrated Services Agency and five mayors and regent of Seribu Islands.

"We ask all building owners and managers to actively support this activity," she appealed.
